½ cup of Margarine
½ cup of Sugar
1 teaspoon of Vanilla essence
1 pinch of Salt
Sprinkles
Preparation
Step 1 : To begin, preheat the oven to 350 °F or 180 °C, preparing the cookies.
Step 2 : In a bowl, beat the vegetable shortening and margarine with the sugar until creamy, adding vanilla or almond extract for aroma.
Step 3 : Next, incorporate the flour in three parts, mixing gently until achieving a texture similar to wet sand that molds easily when pressed.
Step 4 : Using a tablespoon, take portions of the dough and form balls, placing them on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving space between each.
Step 5 : Make a small hollow in the center of each ball, either with your finger or a utensils, to decorate them.
Step 6 : Decorate each polvorón with sprinkles, guava paste, or any other desired topping, allowing for variation for a more festive appearance.
Step 7 : Then, place the trays in the oven and bake for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, ensuring they do not over-brown.
Step 8 : Once baked, let them cool for a few minutes on the tray.
Step 9 : Afterward, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely and become firm.
Step 10 : To store them, keep in an airtight container, enjoying their traditional flavor anytime.
