Ingredients

4 pounds of Guavas

1 ¼ cup of Guava pulp

1 cup of White sugar

4 cups of Water

1 pinch of Salt

Preparation

Step 1 : Start by washing and peeling the guavas, making sure to set aside the peels.

Step 2 : Then, cut them in half and use a spoon to remove the seeds, which are saved along with the peels.

Step 3 : Place the guava halves in a pot along with the seeds and peels.

Step 4 : Add the water and a pinch of salt, then bring to a boil over medium heat for about an hour, until the guavas are soft.

Step 5 : Once cooked, blend the peels and seeds, incorporating a bit of the cooking liquid to make the process easier.

Step 6 : Pass the mixture through a fine sieve to obtain a smooth pulp, using about 1.25 cups of it.

Step 7 : When the guavas are soft, remove them from the cooking water and add the sugar and the remaining liquid.

Step 8 : Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until the sugar is fully dissolved and it reaches a thick consistency.

Step 9 : Next, add the reserved pulp to the mixture and continue cooking over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until achieving a dense and smooth texture.

Step 10 : When ready, remove from heat and let cool.

Step 11 : It is advisable to refrigerate before serving.

Step 12 : This delicious treat can be enjoyed with grated cheese or solo, with all its softness and natural flavor.
