Fish with Coconut

Main Course
1 hour
4 Servings

Ingredients

6 Chillos

1 teaspoon of Crushed garlic

4 tablespoons of Coconut oil

2 Bell peppers in strips

1 Onion in strips

4 cups of Coconut milk

2 tablespoons of Chopped cilantro

1 Lemon slices

1 teaspoon of Bija powder

1 pinch of Salt

Preparation

Step 1 : The process begins with cleaning the fish, making sure to remove scales and entrails if necessary.

Step 2 : Then, diagonal cuts are made on both sides of the fish, approximately 4 centimeters apart, to facilitate the marinade's penetration into the meat.

Step 3 : In a small bowl, mix the crushed garlic and salt, and rub this mixture carefully over the fish, ensuring it penetrates the cuts made.

Step 4 : Next, the fish is reserved in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Step 5 : Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat oil over high heat.

Step 6 : Place the fish and cook for a few minutes on one side until it turns golden, then carefully turn and cook the other side.

Step 7 : Once cooked, remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.

Step 8 : In the same skillet, add bija and cook along with peppers and onions until the latter become translucent and the ingredients release their aromas.

Step 9 : Add the coconut milk and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sauce reduces by half and becomes creamy.

Step 10 : With the sauce ready, place the fish back into the skillet, carefully turning it to prevent breaking.

Step 11 : Adjust the salt to taste and sprinkle with chopped cilantro, allowing everything to cook for a few more minutes.

Step 12 : From there, remove from heat and serve with lime slices, options like rice, tostones, or avocado, according to preference.
