Ingredients

4 Large eggplants

500 grams of Ground beef

1 Finely chopped red onion

1 Finely chopped green bell pepper

1 teaspoon of Crushed garlic

2 cups of Tomato sauce

1 teaspoon of Chopped fresh basil

1 teaspoon of Oregano

1 teaspoon of Crushed black pepper

½ teaspoon of Cayenne pepper

250 grams of Grated mozzarella cheese

2 tablespoons of Olive oil

1 teaspoon of Salt

Preparation

Step 1 : The first task is to preheat the oven to 350°F.

Step 2 : Next, peel the eggplants and cut them into moderately thin slices.

Step 3 : Then, soak them in salted water for 15 minutes, remove, and dry them with paper towels.

Step 4 : Proceed to brush the eggplant slices with olive oil and bake for 15 minutes, then set aside.

Step 5 : Season the meat with salt, garlic, oregano, basil, cayenne pepper, and black pepper, incorporating the finely chopped onion and bell pepper.

Step 6 : Mix all the ingredients well and bring a pot to heat with a little oil to sauté the seasoned meat.

Step 7 : Then, add half of the tomato sauce and some water.

Step 8 : Adjust the seasoning and let it simmer until the sauce reduces.

Step 9 : In a baking dish, pour half of the tomato sauce and place a layer of eggplant slices.

Step 10 : On this base, place a layer of the cooked meat and sprinkle cheese on top.

Step 11 : Repeat this process and bake at 350°F until the cheese is bubbly and browned.

Step 12 : Finally, serve the eggplant pie accompanied by salad and avocado slices, enjoying this delicious dish.
